my natural hair color is blonde and about 2 months ago i dyed my hair black. but im trying to go back to my natural color without just letting my hair grow out. i dont want to have half black and half blonde hair cuz that would look wierd. so if i dye it lighter, does the guide that shows you what color your hair will be still apply? (the one on the hair dye box that shows your current hair color, and then the color it will be when you dye it)

well u can get the black out if your willing to do some work!!

the color that the box shows will NOT turn out that color on your hair! black does not take to any color...the lightest color u will prolly get is orange! and not a pretty one ethier! lol

what u need to do it get a hair stripper that will take out your black in your hair..get "coloroops" you can buy it at walgreens or rite aid..

that should taake the black outta your hair and make it ethier your natural hair color or a reddish light brown..

once you do that then it will be alot easier to dye it blond..but your going to want to use bleach because you wont get it a pretty color unless you do!

and sense your hair is naturally blond the coloroops MIGHT just take it back to that color

dying it back to your natch color will strip it and it will be a disaster. i understand the roots thing, however, i would consult with a pro first and do not use a box unless you want your hair to fall out.

more than likely it will take several sessions to gradually lighten your hair.

i would suggest to get it done professionally because then you dont have to worry about getting a blonde that doesnt match with your natural hair colour!! or you could go with streaks!! that works too!

Dont do it at home... I did this and my regrowth went white and my hair remained black but was frizzled from the chemical. A hairdresser can bring it back even to blonde but with harsh chemicals... my hair smoked when they brought it back but never the less sit looked great and worth the extra $$$. Unless you see a hairdresser the motto it " Once you go black you cant go back " I would never dye it black again if I were you unless you intended to keep it that way for some time. GOOD LUCK!

Go to a stylist and have her "strip" the black color from your hair and have it colored to your natural color. If you continue putting chemicals in your hair, it will eventually break off (speaking from experience). You need to have a professional help you with this.

dont do it yourself!..it will turn orange or some weird freaky clown color..go to a proffecional. trust me..Ilike the saying says once u go black u never go back. lol..in this case u can but its difficult and involves alot of damage..First they will have to strip ure hair from the color then put a color on top..but i take a while..hope it helps...

You've already damaged your hair by going from blonde to black. By bleaching it to make it lighter again you will only damage it further. Give your hair more time to recover. And when you are ready to go back to blonde, go to salon and get it done. It'll be more pricey, but it'll be worth it. Trust.

I've had that before too. My natural hair is blonde and I dyed it Black/Purple ..

I advise you to go see a professional because there is little you can do at home. At the salons they have this product that takes out your black color and makes your hair orange-ish. And then they can put on a blonde hair color closer to yours. After that you can dye your hair from the box and it should be okay.

It took me 3 months to completely go back to blonde and this is with the whole wash out the black color, re-color then add highlights to make it look good and cut off the ends that were pretty much fried from all the dying.
