Some hair questions...?

ok i have some hair questions 2 ask since im gonna dye my hiar...

wut is it called when u get 1 color of hair on top then then another one the bottom?

is black on top and blonde on the bottom a good idea?

and my last question is...would black hair on the bottom show up w/ dark brown hair on top?
