That's kind of part of the look- maybe don't have the pieces of hair in such distinct spikes and just tousle.

That's easy, Do the spikes as "thick" as u can get and yes use gel, hairspray or whatever. After u do that, use your figures to separate the spikes so your scalp won't show.
